Five on Friday

Time for FIVE ON FRIDAY!!

1) I have not started 2014 on the right foot at all. I need to start eating better and working out more. I keep telling myself that I am having a "cheat day" but that turns into a whole week! Ugh got to be a be more motivated and get my butt moving!
2) The boy does so many amazing things for me but I love the little surprises like breakfast in bed on a lazy Sunday or bringing me flowers just because! He never fails to make me smile :)
3) The cold weather here in Florida has been AMAZING! Not sure I would be able to handle the -9 degrees or worse that my brother is feeling in New York but I love the chilly 35 degree morning and cold nights that allow us to have bonfires with some great friends.
4) I just got this bracelet at Aeropostale a couple days ago.(Can't seem to find it on their website) I am in love with minty colors lately and its so simple I can weather with a lot of outfits but adds a bit of *bling* that I like.
5) I am debating if I want to grow to keep my hair short like the first pic which was taken like a week ago or grow it out long like the second pic which was taken like 6 months ago. I like it short because its easy to manage and gives me more volume but I LOVED how my hair looked when it was super long. Decisions , decisions.

That's all I have for today. Have a great weekend and stay warm!!

Year in Review: 2013

Well, well, well. Here I am again...gracing this blog with my presence after being away for over 2 months. But did anyone really notice? *cricket chirps*...didn't think so! Well anyways I am going to do my year in review (almost a month behind schedule) and hopefully start 2014 being better at this whole blogging thing!

Spent NYE out & about Gainesville with some amazing people.
Soaked up as much time as I could with my cousins before they left to head back to Australia.

Photo: Ladies night! #creeperinthecorner #futureroomies
Spent Valentine's Day as a single girl with some friends (one of which I don't speak to anymore)
Photo: Wishing safe travels to the best friend a girl could ever have. I can't believe you're gonna be so far from me since we have been within ten minutes of each other since we were 8yrs old. So proud of you and can't wait to hear of all your amazing travels in Europe. Can't wait to see you again soon. Love you boo boo!
Said good-bye to my best friend of 15+ years as we moved to Europe *sad face*
Thought I knew where I would living in the next couple months and how life was going to be in 2013 but ALL that changed.

                                            Photo
I met this guy.
Who would have thought that after everything I went through in 2012
that I would be in a relationship again.

Celebrated Roxi's first birthday! (Can't believe she's going to be two soon!)

Celebrated my 23rd birthday!
Signed a lease on a house (oh how that would be a mistake!)

Kind of a low key month.
Celebrated one year of adopting my pup Roxi.
Went out a lot with friends.

Started a new job as a Sales Assistant. (still serving on the weekends). It was a change of pace but I have to say it was the best decision I could have ever made!
Remember that lease I signed and those friends I am no longer close with? Well this is the month that I decided living with them would be the wrong idea so I subleased my room (that I had not yet moved into) and distanced myself from negativity.

Started looking for a new place to live within my budget that was still suitable for an energetic dog.  Sean was moving to Gainesville, and we made the HUGE decision to live together even though we had only been dating for FOUR MONTHS! (it was scary but I wouldn't change it for the world)

Moved into our new apartment and made it into our home :)

Family came to visit and help set up the new place.
Celebrated Sean's 28th birthday.

Was a busy month for my job with all the events we put on at work.
Family came to visit again

Went to Halloween Horror Nights (don't know why I torture myself each year)
Saw Florida Georgia Line in Concert
Went out for Halloween with the boytoy and my best friend.

Celebrated Thanksgiving with Sean's family.
Photo: Happy holidays! thank u Kenyon Rath ! I love u so much for your unconditional support and love,I could never b without u!
As you can tell...the boyfriend was SPOILED!!
Did some Black Friday shopping for the first time in Gainesville
(usually I am back home in Miami for it)

Finally went back to my hometown after being away for 9+ months.
 (Sean's first time there)
Celebrated Christmas with my family and enjoyed the time off from work.
Photo
Went to Jacksonville for NYE and had a blast with some of our good friends!

2013 was a great year. Had its ups and downs of course but I met some amazing people, started a great job and got to do a lot of things that I never would have thought I would. Can't wait for 2014 to be EVEN BETTER!!

Things I am supposed to LOVE ...but don't

I saw this list of things that 20-something girls should be able to do on Buzzfeed and then Pretty in Pinktalked about things girls are supposed to love but she doesn't. I decided I would talk about that as well since there are so many trends nowadays that I just don't understand.

Things I am supposed to love

  1. Beer/Wine- 20-something girls are supposed to love this stuff. Like Rachael said..beer is cheap, guys like girls that drink it but I just can't do it. And wine, ugh wine. It's classy to drink wine. Come home and unwind with abottle glass. The taste of both to me is gross and I would rather drink sweet tea or a diet pepsi than either one. I do however drink Redd's Hard Cider...which is sold on the beer aisle so that counts for something right?
  2. Mean girls- Have I seen the movie? Yes. Can I recite every line? No. And I am not ashamed. I get the references (“ You can't sit with us”, “4 for you Glen Coco!” etc.) but I am not obsessed with the movie or think its funny to quote it on a daily basis. I don't think I would ever love a movie so much that I would use the lines in everyday conversation. #sorrynotsorry
(This also applies to “The Notebook” and other similar movies)
  3. Chevron- Are we over this yet? Yes it's kinda cute. But my bed, couch pillows, rugs, shower curtain and clothing don't need to be splattered with the same pattern. I don't want to DIY my whole house with it...but Pinterest sure wants me to! This trend will eventually die..and a whole new pattern will take its place!

    4. Juicing and/or Yoga-No..just no! I don't want to mix spinach with my oranges or kale with bananas. I will drink some fruity smoothie if you want me to but taking time outta my day to juice everything in my kitchen? Not happening! And yoga. I use to be super flexible (and kinda still am) but I do not think laying on a mat in some crazy position is going to make be feel relaxed. I'll sit in front of my TV with some chocolate and feel just fine :)
    1. Starbucks (PSL, Red Cups etc.) I don't like coffee. Plain and simple. Do I go to Starbucks and grab a hot chocolate or passion fruit tea from time to time? Sure. But I didn't have a countdown on my phone til PSL was making its debut. Having an obsession with a drink/coffee place is not healthy for anyone.
Things I should have or be able to do

      1. Wake up with my alarm every morning- HAHA. I have had to wake upat 7:00 am every morning for the last 6 months. I had to wake up before that when I was in school (duh everyone did) but I still hit the snooze button every morning. I still dread getting up no matter what time I went to bed the night before. It has to do with the fact that on the weekends I sleep til 11 or later so my body gets confused . Monday morning my body isn't sure what to do!
      2. A perfect work outfit- I still wake up every morning, half-asleep trying to figure out what to wear. It's a shock I don't forget my pants or something. I could plan it out the day before but who has time for that? I wish I could love as fashionable as some of the girls I see on my instagram/twitter on a daily basis. So much effort!
      3. A handful of go-to recipes- I am not a bad cook. I can bake a mean pumpkin pie. But if you expect me to whip up a fancy dinner with an hours notice? No sure that can happen. I wish I had a couple meals that I knew I could make perfectly in a matter of moments...but that hasn't happened yet. And I think that this isn't just something that 20-somethings entertaining guests should know but that mothers should to. I am hoping when the time comes to prepare meals for a family..I will be a pro!
      4. A bank balance that is generally above $0-Life is expensive. That is all
      5. A favorite book/song/movie- I hate when people ask me what my favorite ______is. I can't answer it. I love a lot of songs (mmmbop, bye bye bye to name a few) and the same goes for movies and books. The pressure to pick just one is far to difficult just I try to avoid it all together.

Do any of you agree with me on this or am I just crazy?
Maybe I need some help to be a better 20-something girl..

Q & A- Random Questions

I feel like I haven't shared random things about me so I found questions from different blogs that I real daily and decided to answer them for my fine readers!

I saw this Q&A on the laurel gazette

1. Your first childhood celebrity crush? I would have to say Zac Hanson or JT. Love those little teeny boppers!
2. Favorite ice cream flavor? Hands down- Mint Choc. Chip! Love it!! Yum. I want some right now and its not even 11am
3. The best gift you've ever received? This one is a hard one. I received a Pandora bracelet from an ex-bf. And it's not the bracelet that is special (we broke up less than a month after I got it) but my family continues to buy me charms for it. So instead of it being about who it came from..its about those that continues to fill it up with love! (sappy i know!)
4. If you could learn any new skill, what would it be? I want to learn to cook better. I am definitely not a bad cook by any means but I am not good at looking at random ingredients and making a meal out it. I want to more creative with my cooking.
5. Your favorite holiday? Easy CHRISTMAS! I love the cooler weather, family time and the the yummy food. And gifts are great too ;)
6. The nicest compliment someone's given you? There isn't one particular time that sticks in my mind but I still blush when my bf tells me I am beautiful. I could look a hot mess and he tells me that...I instantly feel like a million bucks!
7. You win the lottery. What's the first thing you spend on? House. I want a place to call my own. I want to stop worrying about renting and place and moving every couple a years. I would buy a place with alot of land for my pup and a cute little house I could make into my perfect paradise.
8. The high point of this past weekend? This weekend was just what I needed. Family was in town, Sean and I were off work for most of the weekend and it felt good to just relax, eat amazing food and laugh our heads off.
9. Cat person/dog person?  If I has to choose I would say dog person. Only because they have more of a personality. I have one of each and love them both but my pup welcomes me with kisses when I come home from work, snuggles with me in bed and loves me no matter what. Cats just don't do that. They are a little more moody.

These questions I found on Venus Trapped in Mars

10.  If you could bring someone famous back from the grave, who would it be? Heath Ledger. I thought it was an amazing actor and had so more to accomplish in life. 11. What would you refuse to do for $1 million? Something that was going to harm my family, my friends, my pets or myself. I would eat crazy food and streak naked during the Super Bowl but tell to purposely hurt my loved ones for $$? YOU'RE NUTS! Not happening. 12. If you could be on the cover of any magazine, which would you choose? If I was on the cover, it would be I was pretty hot stuff so that's a win in itself. But Maxim or Sports Illustrated means I am a super HOT so that would just be a bonus. 13. Jigsaw puzzle or rubix cube? Puzzle. I don't think I could solve a Rubix cube in less than like 2 years so that's a no. 14. Most embarrassing moment from your high school years? This one is difficult. I know I probably did something really dumb and should remember it but I don't..15. If you could relive any year of your life, which one would you choose? I would love to go back to freshman/sopohmore year of college. I was living on my own for the first time, I loved school and everything was easy because its college and you get to stay up late, drink all night and didn't need to be to class til the afternoon. Perfection. 16. What is the last song you listened to? Some country song on the radio on the way to work. 17. Chunky or smooth peanut butter? Smooth. I'm not picky but the bf is so it's the only kind in the house.
18. What was your first AOL screenname? xxsk8ergurl45xx. I thought I was a cool surfer/skater girl. And everyone put xx in front of their names..not sure why. Why the 45? Who knows!
19. What "As seen on TV" product do you secretly want to order? Either the Pajama Jeans or the Magic Bullet. I want to see if the jeans are as comfy as they appear...and I think I could whip up some tasty treats with the Magic Bullet.

These are from Katie at Keep Calm & Carry on

20.What is the most played song in your music library? Anything by FLA/GA Line or JT.
21. What is your favorite thing about your current occupation? Can I say everything? Working in radio, it's very laid back and fun. I love the people I work with. My job isn't very stressful and there are amazing perks (like going to amazing events and meeting cool people)
22. City or country? I mentioned I would love a house with alot of land so I don't think I could live in NYC or somewhere like that. I am from Miami so I know what its like to live in the "Big City" I need something that is close to a Target and a Starbucks but also can give me lots of space and quiet time. Mix of both.
23. What is your coping mechanism after a really bad day? Putting on my seat pants, putting my hair up in a bun, take the bra off and jump into bed. Clean sheet, a million blankets/pillows and good trashy reality TV. Oh and don't forget all the crappy food (chips, sweets and a diet pepsi) I could eat!
24. Favorite item in your closet right now? Just bought a sweater similar to this which is comfy but keeps me warm which is perfect for the cooler weather that Gville is getting.
25.Skill or craft you want to learn or work on?I would love to just be more crafty in general. I see so many DIY's on Pinterest/blogs and I would love to re-create them..but I know once I get started..it will be a mess of hot glue, burlap and glitter!
26. What is your most precious keepsake? I have some rings that my grandma gave me that I don't wear often because they are kinda tiny on me but I love them because they have history to them.
27.What's at the tip top of your holiday wish list this year? I would love to go on shopping spree so gift cards would be perfect! I could also go for home decor. I am also looking for pieces to make the house feel like home so anything that could make that happen would be a great gift. No specific I am needing this holiday season.
28. What's your favorite spot in the city you live in? There are two places. First is out in Newberry..far from the hustle and bustle of town. There is a lot of land and its fun to just explore. My aunt lives out there so going to her house, taking care of the horses and enjoying a nice big fire is paradise to me. Second (it may sound silly/crazy) but I love the UF campus. Even though its the center part of town, I don't go there often. I go to the bars across the street or the restaurants near it but when I walk around, after not being on it in over a year (which just happened last week)..it makes me miss college days and it brings back memories. One of the reasons I like that I stayed in Gainesville, is the fact that the campus brings the whole town together.

And these are just random ones from the around the internet

29. If you could change your name to anything what would it be? I like my name. It's original and different. No need to change it!
30.The last book I read was: I couldn't tell ya. Which is sad because I love to read but I haven't found one that strikes my fancy.
31.What would we find if we peaked inside your refrigerator? I went to the grocery store a couple days ago so its well stocked with yummy food waiting to be eaten!
32. If I could have any super power, it would be: I would want to fly. I really don't like driving. (love being a passenger) so if I could just fly to work, the store or go home for a quick visit...perfection!
33. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Background dancer for a pop star. I was really into dance and thought I was pretty good. If that failed, I really wanted to be a teacher, which I am still interested in.
34.Are you named after anyone? Randomly named. I was going to be Danielle or Lindsay and then my parents came up with Kenyon! I love it though.
35..What would you consider to be a perfect day? Day off of work. People I love and no cares in the world. Most people would say sipping a drink on the beach but I would have to say going to somewhere I have never been to explore and eating all the yummy food my body can handle!

36.. The last movie I saw was: I am not even sure. Which is sad that my memory sucks that bad. White House Down maybe? I think it was something else since then though...

37. The last concert I attended was:
FLA/GA Line!! Amazing show. First concert with the bf so it was special :)
38. Do you sing in the shower? Sometimes. I don't want my bf to get scared of my singing but I tend to sing a lot during the day and the shower is no exception
39. Were you an only child, the oldest, the baby, or in the middle? Baby. I have an older brother.
40. Chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate. duh!

Let me know more about you. Comment below or message me :)

Style Trends- Is this really what we are wearing nowadays?

I am not a fashionista by any means. Not having all the $$$ in the world to shop makes it a little difficult but I do try to follow the trends as much as possible. Maxi dresses are one thing that I can't get enough of. So comfy and forgiving to the figure but can we worn pretty much everywhere! They are great. But one style craze that I can not handle right now is the high-waisted shorts. *ugh*

Not sexy

Why do girls think they can pull these off. I know that Miley Cyrus is running around in a new pair everyday but that does not mean the rest of the world has to join in. I don't even think Miley looks that great in them but she is known to want to cause attention so let's not give her anymore than she already has. This trend is from the 70-80's and it needs to stay there. You can be a girl with the best body, put on a pair of those and its like instant camel toe and your butt turns into an unattractive pancake.

At first I thought I was the only one that thought this...so I let the little sorority girls prance around all the bars/clubs in town...quietly judging them but never voicing my opinion. But one night the conversation shifted and a group of friends all agreed...THESE MOM SHORTS ARE HIDEOUS! This is coming from both males and females. And we all know that girls are wearing these short shorts so they gain attention from the men...but every guy I have come across...think that this style needs to go FAR FAR away! I have asked girls that wear them why they do it... and most of them don't have a straight answer. They do it because they want to be like everyone else. Hopefully this trend doesn't last long and we can go back to wearing shorts that don't go up to our belly buttons and give us instant wedgies!

High-waisted shorts are probably the most unflattering style trend that I can think of but there are plenty others that boggle my mind as to why anyone would want to wear them. Now that it's getting cooler...Ugg boots start to come out. I have nothing against Ugg boots. In fact I own a couple pairs. It's when they are paired with shorts that make them a FASHION  NO-NO! Why do girls do this? Your feet are cold but not the rest of your body? It's not a good look for anyone. Girls don't know why they wear them...but they see celebrities (see below) and their friends doing it..so they think they should too! This trend has be going on for years so I don't see it disappearing anytime soon. (Which is sad)

NO! NO! NO!
The last style mistake I can think of that I see on a daily basis would be leggings as pants. We all see it, everyday and are still baffled as to why. I, once again, own several pairs of leggings. There are days I come home and change into them because they are super comfortable. I WOULD NEVER EVER LEAVE MY HOUSE WEARING THEM! (Sorry sorority girls but I am going to use you as an example again because you are the most common offenders) Putting on your Delta Gama T-shirt(one of many) and some leggings does not equal an outfit. They go to class, grocery shopping and pretty much everywhere else dressed like this. Why? I can see your panty line and the second you bend over...your ass will visible to everyone in a 5 mile radius! Yes they are comfy and pants are not. Yes they come in a million different colors to go with every outfit. But this is not reason enough to wear them out in public. THERE ARE A FEW EXCEPTIONS- If they are not see through (made of fabric that is not sheer enough to show your lady parts) or if your butt is covered by a shirt/dress. THAT IS THE ONLY TIMES ITS OK!

  • What other style trends are you tired of seeing?
  • What ones would you like to see more of?

Hope you had a great weekend and for those who have today off...LUCKY YOU!

HUMMMPP DAY!

With the three day Labor Day weekend behind us, and a four day work week this week...HUMP day came a little faster this week. (no complaints here!). Every Wednesday a guy from my office comes in and recites the Geico Commercial word for word. I look forward to it each week because (1) its hilarious even after the millionth time and (2) it means it is one day closer to FRIDAY!

Once again I am linking up with Jenni for Blogtember. Today's topic is: If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do? This seems like it would be so easy to answer but than I start to think "only three months..ugh!"

Isn't she adorable?
One of the things that I want to be able to do (when I have a job that makes me lots of $$$ and time to take off work) is to travel. Since the time is no problem ( and ill pretend neither is the $$) I would make sure to cross some of my bucket list places off the list.  All over Europe? CHECK! Australia?  DOUBLE CHECK! My cousin lives in Australia and has the most adorable daughter who I miss more than anything! Having only met her once when they were here last year, I would make sure to take the majority of 3 months to spoil her rotten with attention and love to last a life time. She is growing up so fast and I don't like missing out on it.

Besides travelling (which is what the majority of my bucket list consists of) I would want to just relax and love life. And not relax as in watch TV all day and eat anything I want. I mean just go some place with the people I love, no work stress, no drama and just chill out. I am an easygoing person and try to relax most of the time but knowing that I can no whatever I want for 3 months would be bliss.

I am interested in seeing what you all would do if you had three months of freedom. I leave you with that.

BLOGTEMBER --- > BLOG CHALLENGE

Once again..I disappeared from the blogging world for a short while. My bad. I have been busier at work (which I love) and when I get off..all I want to do is hang out w/ Sean, my friends or just plain relax. And since I think that you would get bored reading about me laying on the couch watching " Orange is the New Black" (which was Ahh-mazing!) ..I spare you the details. I am have a blogging block. I don't know what to write about!!!

But then I stumbled upon Blogtember and I realized I found the solution to my problem. Jenni @ Story of my Life has come up with blog prompts for every weekday in Sept. so that us bloggers who find it difficult on certain days to come up with a topic will have something to write about! There are no real rules..if you skip a day you can make it up or just forget it. If you don't like a topic, then write about something else. It's simple, fun and helpful to someone like me! So without further adieu here is Sept. 3rd's topic : Describe where or what you come from. The people, the places, and/or the factors that make up who you are.

When people ask me where I am from..I say " Miami" because anyone that doesn't live under a rock knows where that is. But truthfully I am from a "small town" south of Miami called Homestead. Some people still know where that is because of the NASCAR Speedway or because it is the city right before you enter The Keys. I went to HS about twenty minutes away so I hung out more in Miami than I did in my small town. And I say small town lightly because Homestead transformed from when I was born to what it is now. Small towns to some mean no stop lights, dirt roads and farms. And Homestead used to be that way many years ago. But now there are houses everywhere, traffic almost as bad as Miami and mini malls being built every other day. Not that I don't miss Homestead but it isn't what it used to be. I love to go home and visit for a couple days and see the places that have been there for 20+years but I don't think I could ever move back home permanently. But its that "small town" feel, where you know your neighbors and you have friends who have lived there all their lives, that make me miss it from time to time. I haven't been home in 6 months (I am used to going home every other month) so I am desperately in need of a trip SOON!

Besides where I came from...the people who I grew up around definitely are a HUGE part of who I am today. I lived within 30 mins of all my close relatives and just a couple blocks away from the only cousins I have. I lived in a single parent home and even though I saw my Dad more growing up...it was always my mom, brother and I and than just my mom and I as my brother got older. She was and still is my best friend. I talk to her at least 2 times a day. Many would think it is crazy but I tell her so much about my life and it would feel weird to not talk to her every morning/night. Being so young when my parents divorced( I was 7) shaped me into the person I am today. Sometimes not for the best ( it makes it difficult to trust people when it comes to relationships etc.) but it has made me stronger, more independent and has made the bond between my mom and I so strong and I wouldn't change that for a second.

So that's me...that's my past and how I came to be the girl I am today! I hope you join me and the rest of those who linked up w/ Blogtember.
